A startup law firm finds a secure and affordable e-signature solution for its legal documents.

Introduction

Brett Potenta is everything but the attorney at Potenta Law. That role is held instead by Brett’s wife, Elise. When Elise started her own law firm in 2023, Brett jumped in to provide all the support he could—from tech solutions to amping up morale. When it came time to find an eSignature platform they could use in their fledgling operation, the two turned to BoldSign.

Challenge

For attorneys and law firms, meeting the highest standards is essential, especially when it comes to legally binding signatures. Finding an eSignature platform that met their needs at an affordable price took precedence for the Potentas. When some platforms require exorbitant per-user, per-month fees and a minimum one-year contract, Brett took to the internet to find an alternative for their small operation.
At first, Brett started looking for a CRM. “Every business has a specialized area or a designated lane,” he pointed out. “Attorneys cover every single aspect of the law, so there’s no lane, so to speak.” He spent loads of time on demo calls for various CRMs, never quite finding the right fit. A fully customized CRM sounded ideal, but the prices didn’t make sense for a solo practitioner with a new practice. Instead, the Potentas decided to take a more compartmentalized approach, especially with clients who were less experienced in using computers.

Solution

Internet forums pointed Brett to BoldSign to meet the firm’s eSignature needs. If you love the features of Adobe Acrobat Sign or Docusign, the forums said, check out BoldSign. So, he signed up on the site and got the firm started.

“I have clients who barely understand how to turn on a computer or open up email, but they can easily sign electronic documents with BoldSign.”

With affordability being such a high priority for their startup, transparent pricing allowed Brett and Elise to save money while not compromising on quality. They can empower their small staff to work simultaneously on various documents without worrying about huge per-user fees.

“There’s nothing that BoldSign can’t do that we needed it to do.”

When Brett had an idea to improve BoldSign for the firm’s use, the BoldSign support team quickly jumped in to provide. Now, Potenta Law can use BoldSign to share legal documents with their clients and request signatures on a secure platform.

Future plans

Happy with everything BoldSign has brought to their business, the Potentas hope to expand their business further. Brett wonders if BoldSign will offer a CRM in the future, but until then, he’s happy to keep using BoldSign to make their client interactions easy.
