Reduce signing delays with automated reminders
With BoldSign, you set a reminder schedule once. Signers get timely nudges until they sign, and the reminders then stop on their own.
- Reminders stop once the document is signed
- One default schedule for your whole team
Why choose BoldSign for automated reminders
BoldSign follows up on every unsigned document for you, on one schedule your whole team shares.
-
Included on every plan
Automatic reminder emails come with every BoldSign plan at no extra cost.
-
One schedule for the whole team
Admins set a default reminder sequence once, so every sender follows up the same way.
-
Stops on its own
Reminders end when the document is completed or expires, so nobody is nudged after signing.
-
Built into your apps
Developers set the same reminder rules through the API, the SDKs, or BoldSign MCP.
How do you automate signature reminders?
BoldSign emails a reminder to every signer who has not signed yet. You turn on Auto reminder when you send. Then you choose the days between reminders and how many to send.
Works in: the BoldSign web app, the API, and BoldSign MCP for AI assistants. Signers open reminders in any browser, on any device.
Signing delays start when follow-ups depend on memory
Hours lost chasing signers
Writing the same follow-up email again and again pulls your team away from real work.
With BoldSign: reminders go out on the schedule you set. See how it works
Requests buried in busy inboxes
A signing request that slips below newer emails stalls the deal, the hire, or the approval.
With BoldSign: each reminder arrives as a new email with a sign button. See the reminder email
Documents that expire unsigned
A missed deadline means sending the document again, often in a rush.
With BoldSign: an expiry alert reaches signers before the deadline. See every reminder control
How do I remind clients to sign documents without manual follow-ups?
With BoldSign, you set reminders once while you prepare the document. After that, every follow-up runs without you.
Upload the document
Upload the contract, agreement, or form. Then add each signer’s name and email.

What does a signature reminder email include?
Every BoldSign reminder names the document, the sender, and the expiry date. A Review & Sign button opens the document in one tap.
- Signers open the document in any browser, with no BoldSign account needed.
- The expiry date tells signers how long they have left.
- Manual reminders can carry a short note that you write.
Signature reminder controls for every workflow
BoldSign pairs automatic reminders with manual reminders, expiry alerts, and team defaults. You choose the mix each document needs.
Automatic reminders
Each document can carry its own schedule, with its own gap and count.
Organization defaults
Account admins set one default reminder schedule. Senders can still change it on any document.
Manual reminders
Send a reminder with your own message at any time. It leaves the automatic schedule as it is.
Expiry alerts
Signers get an email alert shortly before a document expires.
Reminder tracking
Each document page lists the reminders sent, the ones coming up and who still needs to sign.
Reminders through the API
Set the same reminder rules in code when your app sends documents. See the API sample
Can an AI assistant send signature reminders?
Yes. With BoldSign MCP, Claude checks a document’s status and reminds anyone who has not signed.
Remind signers from Claude
Add BoldSign as a connector in Claude Desktop and sign in. Setup takes about 10 to 15 minutes, with no code.
“Remind Emily Carter to sign the Service Agreement.”

Limits and costs to know before you set up automated reminders with BoldSign
BoldSign reminds signers about documents waiting for their signature. It does not send general follow-up emails or task reminders.
- 5 automatic reminders per document, at most You set the days between them when you send.
- 1 manual reminder a day per document A second one the same day shows an error.
- $0.20 per SMS reminder $0.10 per WhatsApp reminder Manual reminders only, as add-ons from the Business plan. Prices are in USD.
Before your first reminder schedule
- Automatic reminders go by email only. Signers on SMS or WhatsApp delivery cannot receive them.
- Reminder settings cannot be changed after a document is sent.
- Live documents through BoldSign MCP need the Enterprise API plan, from $30 a month (API pricing).
Set automatic signature reminders through the API
BoldSign sets reminders in code through the ReminderSettings object when you send a document. EnableAutoReminder turns them on, ReminderDays sets the gap and ReminderCount sets how many.

Questions about automated signature reminders
Can reminders be sent to all signers?
Yes. BoldSign reminds every signer who has not completed their part. Signers who already signed get no more reminders.
Do I still need manual follow-ups?
Not for routine documents. The BoldSign schedule handles those, and a manual reminder covers urgent ones.
What happens if signers ignore reminders?
BoldSign keeps sending reminders until your set count is reached. You can also share the signing link through another channel.
Do reminders stop after signing?
Yes. BoldSign stops reminders once the document is completed. They also stop when the document expires.
Are automatic reminder emails included in every plan?
Yes. BoldSign includes automatic reminder emails on every plan at no extra cost.
Are expiration alerts sent automatically?
Yes, once you turn the alert on. BoldSign alerts signers 1 day before the document expires, or 2 hours before when less time remains.
How often should you send signature reminders?
Start with the BoldSign default: a reminder every 3 days, 3 times. A document sent on the 8th then gets reminders on the 11th, 14th, and 17th.
Let reminders do the follow-up on your next document
Set a schedule in BoldSign once, and every signer gets a timely nudge.
